HIPAA-Compliant Task Management on Any ClickUp Plan

Need a HIPAA-Compliant way to move form data into ClickUp?

With the ClickUp + HIPAAtizer integration, send form submission data collected on your intake and other HIPAA-Compliant forms straight into ClickUp tasks and contacts – without upgrading to ClickUp’s Enterprise plan.

Important: ClickUp supports HIPAA Compliance only on its Enterprise plan, which requires custom pricing and is built for large organizations. If you’re on ClickUp’s Free, Unlimited, or Business plan, do not store PHI directly in ClickUp. Keep PHI securely stored in HIPAAtizer and export only non-PHI information to ClickUp.

Is ClickUp HIPAA Compliant?

ClickUp can support HIPAA Compliance, but only on its Enterprise plan. Enterprise includes a signed Business Associate Agreement (BAA), advanced permissions, SSO/SAML, and audit logs.

For small practices, agencies, and development teams, Enterprise isn’t always efficient as it works for companies with more than 15-20 seats. If you’re not on that plan, keep PHI in HIPAAtizer and send only non-PHI data to ClickUp.

So you use ClickUp and handle patient data.

Now what?

ClickUp is popular with agencies, dev firms, and small teams. If you’re in healthcare or you build for healthcare clients, you probably already use it for project management, client work, internal ops.

But HIPAA Compliance? ClickUp’s compliant tier is priced for enterprises. Not for a smaller agency or clinic.

HIPAAtizer keeps the compliance layer separate from your project management. You collect patient data through HIPAA-Compliant forms. PHI stays inside HIPAAtizer. The details your team actually needs in ClickUp – task names, appointment types, status updates – those get pushed over. Nothing else.

Your ClickUp plan stays the same. Your workflow stays the same.

How teams actually use this

Create tasks from form submissions

A patient fills out an intake form. HIPAAtizer creates a ClickUp task: “New patient intake – Am marketing follow-up.” The task has the appointment type, service requested, urgency level. No protected health information attached.

Track intake workflow status

Use ClickUp to track where each form stands: submitted, under review, scheduled, completed. Your operations team sees the pipeline without accessing PHI.

Route tasks to the right person

When a new form comes in, HIPAAtizer triggers a ClickUp task assigned to the right team member. New patient intake goes to the marketing team. Consent form goes to the provider. Insurance upload goes to billing team.

If your team routes patient-related work across departments, this saves time and keeps nothing stuck in someone’s inbox.

Move contact details into ClickUp

Send non-PHI contact info – name, email, phone, preferred contact method – into ClickUp CRM or contact lists. Your admin or outreach team follows up without seeing clinical data.

Connect ClickUp to your HIPAAtizer account

We don’t have a native ClickUp integration, but you can wire them together using webhooks. Here’s the setup:

  • In your form, go to Form Settings -> Integrations and add a webhook pointing to the ClickUp Create Task endpoint
  • Generate an API token in ClickUp under Settings -> ClickUp API and include it as an Authorization header on the webhook
  • Use the ClickUp API reference for the request body: https://developer.clickup.com/reference/createtask

Keep access controlled

Even after integration, HIPAA compliance depends on proper access control.

Make sure:

  • Only authorized staff can access form submissions in HIPAAtizer
  • ClickUp workspace permissions match your team’s roles
  • PHI is stored only with a BAA in place
  • You review what data flows between systems regularly
